SCOLIOSIS IN ADULTS
Difference between allopathic and chiropractic treatment of adult scoliosis. Treating the symptom rather than the cause.
SCOLIOSIS INTENSIVE
Traditional chiropractic doesn’t generally address scoliosis. Each chiropractor can “Treat” scoliosis. However, very few have verifiable and reproducible results. CLEAR™ Institute doctors are specifically trained to work directly with scoliosis. This requires a great deal of learning and continued training in the field of scoliosis. Each year CLEAR™ Institute doctors are required to verify their results in scoliosis reduction.
TRADITIONAL CHIROPRACTIC FOR ADULTS & CHILDREN
While traditional chiropractic is beneficial for a number of reasons, it doesn’t address scoliosis.
Scoliosis in Children
Scoliosis is the most common spinal deformity in school-age children. (Chiro & Osteo 2005)
- It’s important to start children with scoliosis early in treatment so that it does not continue to progress.
- The total number of scoliosis cases in the United States is estimated to be greater than 4 million. (National Scoliosis Foundation)
- Each year, 442,900 office visits, 133,300 hospital visits, and 17,500 emergency room visits are made by children with scoliosis. ((HCUP-AHRQ2011)
- Approximately 29,000 scoliosis surgeries are performed on adolescents every year in the United States (WJO 2015). The average cost of a hospital stay for a child with scoliosis is $92,000 – over five times the national average of $17,500 (HCUP-AHRQ 2011)
- Spinal deformity in children and adolescents accounts for the largest share (48%) of all musculoskeletal deformity health care visits – over 857,280 each year. (HCUP-AHRQ 2011)
- Every year, scoliosis patients make more than 600,000 visits to private physician offices, an estimated 30,000 children are fitted with a brace and 38,000 patients undergo spinal fusion surgery. (National Scoliosis Foundation, 2007)
BOOT CAMP
(For younger scoliosis patients – 1-2 week program)
Boot Camp is more intensive. It is designed to get the same results with this program as with a three-month program. This program is designed for individuals who are unable to invest more time because of limited availability. It is conducted over a shorter period of time than more conventional programs. We also offer children and teens convenient after-school hours.
Boot Camp is a comprehensive program that:
- Includes xrays taken before and after treatment
- Assesses probabilities for scoliosis progression.
- Chiropractic adjustments
- “Sets” the spine in corrected position
- Teaches home therapy (ies) so that improvement may be sustained
- Follows up with post treatment xrays and tracking of at home therapies
